The indicator of the Internet development level is the number of Internet users per 100 people in the country and is one of the basic indicators for assessing the information and communication technologies development level. More than half the world's population are internet users now. Most Internet users live in developed countries, where 80 percent of the population is connected to the network. At the same time, the use of the Internet is gradually growing in developing countries. Despite the fact that Africa and Asia still have the lowest rates of network connections, these regions seem to be the fastest growing by number of internet users. The lowest growth rates are recorded in Europe and the Americas regions.

Most of the new users appeared on the network due to the decrease of smartphones and tariff plans for mobile communications cost, which became available to a wider segment of the population. The dominance of mobile access to basic telecommunication services is becoming more and more obvious. Access to high-speed mobile and fixed broadband networks is also expanding.
