Consumer markets companies continued to pursue M&A to increase topline growth, expand their portfolios of products and geographic reach and to acquire new capabilities to attract new customers but at a slower rate than last quarter or last year. Deal volume was down in Q3 2018 compared to Q3 2017, while deal value was relatively flat.
